Fairytale Flower Girls
Every wedding is a fairytale, when the flower girls are spellbinding pixies, straight from the pages of Hans Christian Andersen. These darling dresses are easy to make and enchanting to behold, giving little ones a chance to play “dress up” and making them a magical part of your special day.

Flower Girls

The tulle ballerina skirt is a cloud of filmy white, overlaid with cotton candy pink. It’s gathered at the waist with a sash of silk flowers in rosy hues from blush to burgundy. A burgundy leotard echoes the roses in the sash, tying the whole outfit together.

Dress

Tinkerbell wings add a flight of sheer fantasy. To make, buy a pair of child’s wings at a costume store. Spray paint the wings a pale pink, then using a brush, accent the edges in black, tinged with green. Outline black veins with a small paintbrush, then dust all over with gold glitter. Wrap ribbons around the wires to attach the wings to the child’s back.

Shoes

Fidgety feet stay comfortable in cream-colored ballet slippers, dressed up with a white silk rose on the toe. Cream-colored tights blend shoes to the white tulle underskirt.

Wand

A bewitching basket of sweetheart roses looks bedazzling paired with a “magic” wand concocted of pink tulle, silk roses and trailing ribbons.

Butterfly hair ties  Tiara

Pink and green silk butterflies sprinkled with gold glitter are wired into sweptback hair, adding a whimsical accent while taming flyaway ends. An inexpensive rhinestone tiara (available at accessory stores) completes the look. (For hair styles, see Heavenly Hair.)
