Better Birthday Party
Birthdays are the one special day a year to call your own. To throw the ultimate birthday party, I will show you how to create a festive atmosphere with a colorful, polka-dot tablescape, complete with balloons, presents and delicious food. It is a guaranteed happy birthday!
Accent Pieces
For your plates, use a large, solid-colored plate as a place mat. Then stack two smaller plates with polka-dot patterns on top. Place a matching solid-colored napkin on top of the plates, and then sit a matching bowl, flipped upside-down, on top of the napkin. Place colorful, plastic utensils next to the placemats.. For an extra touch, decorate cupcakes with candy to create fun faces and then sit the cupcake on top of the bowl. You can find utensils at a local party supplies store, and you can even use colorful paper plates instead of real ones if you prefer.
To toast birthday wishes, you can easily turn a cup into a festive goblet. Simply cut a strip of candy dots and tape it around a cup (choose a color that matches your place mat) about two inches below the edge.
Centerpiece
No matter what your age, you will easily impress your guests with an edible centerpiece like this cupcake stand. You can make or buy cupcakes (your choice) and if icing yourself, I'd use different, bright colored frosting. Decorate the cupcakes with sprinkles, and place a toothpick skewered with three colorful gumdrops in the center of each cupcake. It is so simple but makes a big impact in presentation. Showcased in the center of the table atop a small mountain of wrapped presents (you can even wrap empty boxes for display), let's just hope this decadent centerpiece will last until the end of the party.
Favors
What's a birthday party without favors? Tie different colors balloons on the backs of a few chairs to add even more pop and color to the setting, and you have a built-in favor for guests to bring home. Another cute idea is to decorate mini gumball machines with a festive sticker that fits your theme and place next to each place setting. Small rainbow bouncing balls are another fun favor for guests to play with at the table. If you wanted, you could also decorate each of these items to act as their placecard, best of all, you can find these items at your local party supplies store.
