Fresh flowers are lovely, but their beauty is fleeting, so try silk
flowers for an arrangement that won’t wilt. A colorful bowl,
a petal-shaped votiveholder, a floral-scented candle and a field of fabric
daisies are all you need to spread flower power all over the house. Freshen
up forgotten spaces, like the bathroom counter, a nightstand, a desk
or a shelf – anywhere that can use a cup of cheer.
Here’s How:
1. Cut a block of floral foam to fit inside the bottom of a decorative
ceramic bowl. I used a soup bowl, but you could also use a small
decorative mixing bowl or a jumbo coffee mug.
2. Place a small dessert bowl inside the larger bowl, on top of
the floral foam.
3. Nest a green petal-shaped votive candleholder inside the dessert
bowl. Insert a floral-scented tea light candle.
4. Center the ceramic bowl on a large plate or serving platter. Snip
the stems of several dozen yellow, red and orange fabric daisies an inch
or two below the flower head. Arrange the flower heads around
the bowl, covering the plate.
Great Gift Idea: Wrap
it in brightly colored cellophane and tie with a ribbon, with a flower
tucked in the bow. For a variation,
fill a jumbo coffee mug with coffee beans and a vanilla-scented candle
to make a perky hostess gift or wake up a co-worker’s desk.
